General Diesel Discussion Talk about general diesel engines (theory, etc.) If it's about diesel, and it doesn't fit anywhere else, then put it right in here.

go take a close look at one out of a truck and sitting on the floor in front of you, before you buy one and try to put it in a pick-up. they're pretty big.

If not for a pickup, don't stop there, go for an N14. 500hp and I get 11 mpg bobtail with a 13.6 high condo cab that weights 18,000. Would do quite a bit better as a singel axle. Not that much different in weight.

well dixy i am thinking on put it in an older 2.5 ton truck which one i havent decided.the mane thing is staying away from electronics.i dont know much about the 8.3l exept that they are basicly an oversized 5.9l and know even less about the n14. if the 8.3l is too big for what ever truck i buy i will just use a 5.9l with about 200hp and gear it acordingly.

Unless you are married to Cummins there are also the DT466 and the 3208, both mechanical. Both engines have had a very long lifespan so they should be relatively easy to find.
