I'd cut it back and weld the tip on. If you slide it over it(the exhaust) won't have much of a chance to resonate in the tip. At least that's how I did my 5" tip. I have about 2 inches sticking into the tip so the sound can bounce around inside the can before it comes out.

Oh I didn't notice your earlier post. Looks sweet! Can you take a side shot of the truck?

Why doesn't anyone make/use an 8" or larger one?

If anyone has the stones - I've got the shop

Forrest, How close is the exhaust to the tire? Looks really close in one of the pics but couldn't tell by the others. Looks sharp, and I bet it sounds awesome.

when I built it, I had my buddy's 265/75 under the truck and we pushed it as far forward and to the right as possible as I'm planning on going from the 35's that are on it to 33's and putting the spare under the truck. I've got about an inch and a half clearance from his tire, so a 33" should still clear...

as far as the right rear tire, it's just shy of 2" away at the closest point. these wheels have more offset than stock, but I'm planning on having that same 2" of clearance with 33's on stock wheels between the pipe and the right rear.

it's tight, but it's not too tight!

and I don't like pipes that shoot back at an angle or slash cut or rolled edge or any of that, I want it to look mean an industrial and shoot straight sideways! I had to angle this one down slightly so it would all clear, but I'm still happy w/ it.

it really doesn't sound all that killer w/ the twins, but my god it would sound SWEET w/ my sps66!

I see, in the pics it didn't look as if there was much clearence. I like the look of you're exhaust, fits the truck nicely too.
