6.7l Cummins diesel

Have seen on a couple other sites (www.allpar.com) that the Cummins is going to be a 6.7l in '07. I looked on Cummins website and they make no mention of a 6.7l B-series. Looking on AGCO Corp's website and see that their RT Series of tractors uses a B-series 6.7l Cummins.

http://www.agcotractors.agcocorp.com....cfm?pid=1.9.2

and

http://www.agcotractors.agcocorp.com...ct%20Specs.pdf

Does anyone know anymore information about this? Will we be seeing a new Cummins engine in '07?

the 6.7 is already around , it is a structural block and for industrial use only , there are two versions , we had one pass thru the shop this last week , it was the common rail engine , and there is the 12 valve version also . I didnt get a chance to check it over , but it does look like the QSB 5.9 , only the injection lines and the common rail was much bigger. I did run the serial numbers to see if it was in the system yet and no it wasn't. that is all I know

Yeah, the AGCO's use the 12v version Rotary pump. It is a rear gear housing engine, so it would need a little tweaking to get it into a truck.

So far, it's a good engine.

I'm sure that DC and Cummin's engineers can shoehorn it into a Dodge Ram 3500. Especially considering that it is .1 liters bigger than the Duramax.

I can also imagine that with a thousand bucks it could put out 1000 foot pounds of torque.

Since the 6.7L is essentially a stroked 5.9L, from a design standpoint it would be easy enough to fit the 6.7L internals into a non-structural (i.e., truck-type) 5.9L design, even if the deck height had to be raised.

this 6.7 you are hearing about is the new hemi gas engine coming out. ppl like me who lemoned their hemi gas engines complained sooo much about that piece of crap hemi that they will only be putting the hemi in the half tons from now on 06.

the hemi is fine for a half ton but didn`t live up to expectations for the 2500-3500`s, I now have a cummins and love it.

yes there's a 6.7 Cummins, don't know much about it though. And yes, there's a bigger Hemi in the works but it's only a 6.1L and it'll be around 425HP(check out Chrysler's website) they're using that in the SRT-8 300C that should be out soon and I'm sure a variation of the 6.1L will be in the trucks and the magnum wagon as well, though it still couldn't touch our 6-cylinders!! I'd still rather have a Cummins...I talked to a guy that just got a brand new(last year) 3500 with the Hemi and he couldn't belive my "old truck" had nearly twice the torque and still got waaaay better mileage! Guess you get what you pay for...

Well I thought the 6.7 had left , but it is still in the parts house , it is a prototype common rail engine we recieved for a Ag show coming in Stockton CA. that is the reason I couldnt get any parts on the network to show up. it looks like it uses the common rail from the 8.3 . which Don M. probably would like to check out , these lines are bigger in diameter and the rail itself is bigger also , the head looks just like the ISB head.

The 12v version of the 6.7 uses the Bosch VE mechanical pump that is used on 1st gen B models

The same exact pump, or a slightly bigger one?

I guess Dodge is sick of being at the bottom of the displacement barrel. Typical Mopar answer: "Just stroke the engine we got!"

I didn't know I had a pump off a 6.7 on my 5.9...
(Then again, that's what, a whopping 42 CI? I HATE the metric system, especially on American vehicles.)
((Why are all of our bolts on our engines metric, anyhow? It peeves me off!!!))

No one is saying Dodge is going to the 6.7, its all typical rumor mill stuff. For now, it is strictly for ag use. Structural block etc. Off road emmissions are not the same as on hwy emmissions, therefore they can run a mechanical system until tier 3 emmissions are put into play. No one knows for sure what will become of the 6.7. I have heard word personally thru gm's at Cummins that hte 5.9 is here to stay for now. The VE pump is the same.

I agree with Monty , this 6.7 is most likely only be a industrial engine , just looking at the block you can see the structural changes that were made and also the block is wider for the longer stroke. the 5.9 is not going anywhere and you wont see anything else in the Dodge, the thing that interest me was that the injection lines and the common rail are bigger diameter wise and may flow more fuel. which should interest the high horsepower guys.

The rumors I've seen put the 6.7L in the also-rumored 4500 and 5500 series Rams, probably with the also-rumored MegaCabs.
