400 Big Cam question
400 Big Cam question
I have bent one and broke one pushrod on the 3,4 cylinders and I have got new ones and I need to know the adjustment on the injector pushrod as in where the engine needs to be and how to adjust it? Thanks Derrick

the old 855's used an A,B,C setting system. Now I could be off on this, which equals bad results, but, here is the spec for an N14, which is based on the 855
on the accessory drive pulley, you will see marks, TDC, A,B, and C
Rotate the engine clockwise to A, and set the valves on #5 and the Injector on #3
Advance to B, set the valves on 3 and the injector on 6
Advance to C, set the Valves on 6 and the injector on 2
Advance to A, set the valves on 2 and injector on 4
Advance to B, set the valves on 4 and the injector on 1
Advance to C, set the valves on 1 and the injector on 5
Valves are set at Intake .014" and exhaust .027"
Injector set depends somewhat on what kind of injector, STC or otherwise. That is something best left to the proper service manual for the engine.
I may have the info here, not entirely sure on that yet. If you have the STC injectors, there is a specific tool employed to hold the STC tappet in the maximum upward position while adjusting the pushrod. This tool is not required if you have a lot of experience with these engines, but for a novice, its a darn good idea to either have the tool, or just have someone who knows the procedure, do the adjustment for you.
Good luck
