3.9L Cummins in a 1998 Blazer?

Is it possible to swap a 3.9 cummins into a chevrolet blazer 4 door? What is invovled? Do they have AC units that go on these engines? Would I need to do anything to the chassis? Any input would be appericated!

Of course its possible, anything is if you have enough money.

Things to consider (been doing some thinking myself):
1. Height/length of 3.9 compaired to current engine
2. Transmission meeting up correctly, may need some adapter to connect
3. Engine mounts are where? Where do they need to be?
4. Not certain if you need different ECU or not

Is that before or after you purchase the engine?

All in all because next year Im going to be doing something so I will have about 7k. I would either like to do a diesel engine in this or buy a older dodge single cab beat to hell to make into a race truck so I can be able to still have a driver while im working on the project.

I believe there are 3.9's avail with a Chevy Bolt pattern, so that shouldn't be a problem. Sometimes you can find one that comes with a 700r4, so unless you have 4wd that aspect should be covered. Shouldn't need a new ECU either. Aren't they mechanical injection just like a 12v?

Maybe not a new ecu, possibly just reprogrammed, but how do make sure your oil pressure light lights up when its supposed to? The wires dont go from the oil pressure sensor right to the dash board.

the chevy bolt pattern on the 3.9 will not work on a 4.3 trans.also if i remember correctly the trans is computer controlled.according to throttle position and speed, load etc.

For that I would find the port on the oil filter housing where it gets the signal from, and find an adapter to let you use the Chevy sender in the Cummins housing. I don't know what either senders thread size is, but I'm sure you could come up with an adapter. There's a great user group on yahoo for people interested in swapping a 3.9 into anything, really.
