Are there any mechanics out there that knows anything about a ford 7.3l diesel??? I have a friend that has a problem. There wait to start light will not come on. They took it to a dealership against my will, and they replaced the glow plug controler. it work fine for about 2 weeks, and now it's doing it again. As of now they are stuck in Greensboro NC. I've been on the ford forum and I think they have a total of three memebers. No help there. I was hopeing that there were some mechanics here that might could help me and a friend out.

Thanks in advanced

Kimrey

Check all the wiring that leads to the relay. It shoukd be on the passenger side of the motor right on top,it looks like a solinoid, mine went bad along with the wiring. The solinoid or relay whatever you want to call it is a common problem,if thats not the "controler" you are speaking of check that first. Good luck.

We had the same problem on the fire truck but the light came on then wen right off. Checked the sol and it was fine. Was going to take it to the dealer to get the glow plugs checked. Turned out it was a weak battery. Replaced the battery and it ran fine.

Thanks for the replieys so far, but it doesen't seem to be any of those problems. Took it to the dealer and they cannot find the problem either. Anybody have any other solutions?? My friend is frustrated. He called the International dealership, and there like the Cummins dealer. They cannot help on the electronics. A Ford issue. Maybey the gasoline mechanics there at the dealership will eventualy figure it out, or maybey someone here can.

Thanks, Kimrey

Maybe you were at the wrong Ford forum? Maybe it was the wrong time of day? Be patient. Try this one. http://forums.thedieselstop.com/ubbthreads/
