16 year old driving a 1 ton?!
On the other side of this bad stuff does happen. On halloween 3 of our local high school football players were leaving practice at 5:30pm and hit a power pole. 2 sixteen year olds and a 17 year old. 1 died on the scene, 1 died the following day, 1 still clinging onto life. I don't think it had anything to do with what they were driving. Just young stupidity. They missed the stopsign, which is sometimes easy to do at that intersection with the sun in your eyes. If you aren't familiar with the road I can see it happening. But with the lack of driving experience he locked up the wheels and slid right into the pole. 1 foot either way and there probably wouldn't have been any deaths.
Spunbearing
There isn't a month that goes by without hearing or seeing the very same thing happen here. These young bucks and does don't realize the power at their fingertips and often have tragic results. Worst part is they don't wear their seat belts--we often find the mangled bodies ejected. Not a pretty sight when you're a parent or great-grandparent, believe me.
