16 year old driving a 1 ton?!

Alright im gonna rant here so bear with me. I come home and theres a brand new F350 drw in the driveway, come to find out its my sisters(16 years old) friend she doesnt have a car yet so her dads letting her drive it...but only to her friends houses! Anyways it took her about 10 minutes to back it out of the driveway then i got to thinking...how in the world does someone let their 16 year old daughter drive a $50k vehicle not to mention one that weighs over 7500lbs? I seriously cant believe it, thats just dangerous. Then my brothers friend (both 18) drives his dads 2005 cummins 2500 4x4 (with edge juice/attitude...no intake or exhaust) around all the time and just beats the <edit> out of it. Im 21 in college, working full time and have been saving since i graduated high school for a truck just like that one and man it kills me to see it treated that way. Just thought id share my exciting weekend with you guys!!

In her old man's defense...if she does get into an accident with it, she'll mostly likely be the least hurt. True letting her drive a $50k, 2 ton hunk of steel isnt what I would do, but for the "safety of my loved ones." I'd put em in the biggest thing I could find.

I went out and got my truck like 2 days after i turned 21 back in april.. Mind you it was only like $25,000 (Extended warranty included) but i still think its nicer than any 2005 Ford DRW (Which i also tested out in comparison to buy)

Ok, not trying to start a fight here but what is the difference of allowing a 16 year old with a liscense drive her dad's truck and a 13 year old without a liscense drive a farm use stake body to the store to pick up feed? The only legal rquirement was that he be able to see over the steering wheel and reach the pedals.

Oh i agree with letting a 13 year old drive around on a farm in a controlled environment but when any young person is driving around a town with 25,000 people in traffic that freaks me out. Half my friends moms that drive SUV's around here have the right front tire worn right to the white on the sidewall from hitting so many curbs. And again, learning how to drive a vehicle that big on a farm or rural roads since they were old enough to reach the pedals is one thing. But when they learn how to drive in a chevy lumina or a car of the like and then take a 7500lb monster out around town is totally different.

My dauther was driving $200,000 tractors when she was six.
I had no problem with her driving a measly 5.9 when she was sixteen.
All depends on the kid.

heres a even better one. Im 15 and drive a 02 dodge dually. but heres the kicker. I also have a '57 chevy lifted pickup. and the really amazing thing is that ive acually paid for them both all by my self. i learned to drive a old gmc 3/4 ton 6.2 diesel when i was 2. ( ok well i was setting on dads lap steering and he was shifting and operating the pedals. ) but i was drivin trucks by my self on the farm when i was 6. thats with out anybody else in the cab.
