Why not get a 12v or 24v that gets decent mileage? That should hold you over until the half tons come out.

Word is the half ton Diesels will all be out in 2010. Dodge is looking at two diff engine config's for the half ton, one is a V8 and the other a V6. And of course the other guys F**D (Boo-Hiss) is looking at doing the V8 version.

Hmmm....A 2003 SO 2500 4.73 2wd with stock Michelins would return those mpg numbers with similar HP and TQ as the '10 1/2 ton. Slightly less with 4wd.

It would probably run 'ya $15-$25k less than a new '10, you could have one now, and you'd get 3/4 ton capability and classic good looks thrown in for free!

Oh, and one more thing: There's no emissions junk on the '03-04s.

My HO can get that if I slow down and keep my foot out of it!

I would be VERY surprised if the new 1/2 ton diesel gets 25 mpg. How many Liberties got 25? And that was a 2.8L 4 banger.

As far as I know, the V-6 is on the shelf, but the v-8 Cummins for ram 1500 is reality.

Oh, and it will be available in calendar year 2009 as an early 2010 model, from what I understand.

The new 09 rams are sweeeeeet.

Ford is basing there diesel off of a landrover design (no Navistar). FYI - Navistar is in court over this right now as they feel Ford must use them for the half ton diesel market also.
In the land rover SUV it got 31 mpg although it was a little smaller engine. It will be a 4.4 liter and about 300 hp and 500 tq. I hope the half ton models will get in the upper 20's on the highway.
The duramax will also be about the same size and output and all will be the "V" design.

Ford and Navistar are no longer.... Ford is making their own 6.7L V8 diesel for their next gen HD's as we speak.
