1500 Diesel walk-around video

Not a lot of new info, other than it's still on-track for the dealerships later this year.

Wish they could have worked out a deal for the smaller Cummins to go in there. Not too crazy about the VM V6, but I'm sure they will sell a bunch of them.

Yeah, me too - Cummins had the 1500 diesel all ready to go before the bankruptcy. Would be interesting to know the reason Chrysler went with the VM instead. All I've heard is speculation.

Duel exhausts straight out the back.
Don't think I'd like that much when pulling a travel trailer.

Fiat owns Chrysler.

MV Motori is a joint-venture owned by Fiat and GM...they keep money in-house, versus sending to Cummins.

I wish them luck with the urea injection in the great white north during the winter, it hasn't been too reliable from what I've heard of so far........

Oh how I wish we could move on things to like this natural gas based diesel I've read about. Then we could simplify or remove so much of the crap they put on these engines maybe. Hell I think its overkill now........

At least they say the DEF tank holds enough, 8 gallons, to go for 10k miles, or once every oil change. I know on the newer farm tractors with DEF the tanks are heated after the engine is warmed up to prevent winter problems. Sensors prevent urea use until it's thawed out.

The city next to us here in Michigan has a bunch of 2 and 3 year old mowers with VM Motori motors in them. All of them are sitting this year because they can't get parts for them. I hope parts availability for the Ram motors won't follow the same path.

The V8 Cummins Diesel slatted to go in before the Fiat takeover is now going into Nissans Titan this year. Google it.

The new Trailer Life Towing guide discusses the new 1500 diesel (Rated for about 10k) and the Titan V8 Cunnins, which will put out 500 ft/lbs.. That is about what my 02 3500 puts out, rated for about 15k with 4.10 gears.
I think the feeling may have been that the Fiat diesel was bettter suited to the 1500 for what it is suppose to do, pull 10k. I believe the Cummis can get too close to 2500 towing spcs with the low end 6.7. Thus they would prefer you go 2500 for heavy towing, vs 1500. Competition may change this.
Just my $.02.

An anonymous Nissan engineer posted on another site that the new Cummins engine is really crammed into the engine bay of the truck. He stated that he'd hate to be a Ram tech working on one.
The new Truck Trends had an article where they drove three versions of the Cummins diesel in configurations excluding the pickup. Three different hp levels too. They liked it aside from a defueling at shift pts.
