12v versus 24v sound?

is there a discernible difference between the sound a 24v makes and the sound a 12v makes?

24v has a much more noticable clack clack clack sound from the IP.

Depends on how you perceive it, most here say the 24V is louder, I think they are just higher pitched.

I can tell the diff. from 100 feet away.

They sound different to me. 24v is a bit louder than the 12v. I personally think the 24v sounds better too.

I would have to agree that the 24 valve sounds louder at idle.

Some 24v's are louder than others because they didn't get built with the under hood pad. Mine is just plain louder than any 12valver I have ever heard. Its the IP that makes most of the noise in a diesel.

I think 24V's have a much high pitch, but I love the sound of those 12V's.

The only thing quieter than a VE is a commonrail. Dynamic timing advance means we are idling with about 10 degrees less timing than a p-pumped truck.

are we comparing engine noise or exhaust tone?
24V are much louder than a 12V at the engine, VE is quietest. Exhaust tone, VE is deepest to me, if comparing like exhaust systems.
