WVO storage, how long, how, can I ??????
I think I finally have source for WVO, how long can I store it before processing it? What do I need to do to store it? Will it go bad? The reason I need to store it is because I don't have a processor yet. I want to stock pile the stuff first. Any advice??
Id just use airtight drums and fill them completely.
Oh yeah, you might also look on sites like utahbiodieselsupply for some biocide thats ok to use with biodiesel or WVO.
You could pre-process the stuff before storage too. Remove all the water and solids with a vacuum / heat /filter process. Then you know right out of the barrel its good to go.

From what I've heard it will go rancid after sometime. Obviously the conditions it's stored in will determine the length of useable time frame.
Outside and sunny 80deg= not very long
Inside and dark 70deg=probably months of useful life, maybe more

Agreed but were also talking Canada vs. Texas which could mean a diff in temps of 50+ degrees at any point in the year. Either way you best bet is to store it sealed in doors...preferably in a metal drum.
It will keep longer if you can clean it before you store it. If you have losts of junk in the oil it will go bad much faster. Dark cool place is the best idea. I've always stored mine in plastic drums.

i strain mine first to get the food particles out. then make sure the oil is in air tight containers and store away from sunlight, in a cool spot where it will not freeze. can keep up to a year. that is what i have read on the biodiesel sites.
