Who supplies fuel to whom?

Exxon/Mobil

Texaco/Chevron

I know the above two are combined (pretty sure)

Is BP just BP?

7-11 Citgo?

Shell Oil, just Shell Oil, or are they paired up with another company?

Circle K, don't know where they get their gas.

There are still Sinclair stations!

Arco, who are they?

What other regional gas stations are there in your part of the country?

In many places in the Midwest they all get it from the same pipe line and who knows where the fuel came from. The only difference is what additives they add to it before it goes to each station.

Your question needs to be complete .
At what point ? To what end ?
What continent ? What part of what continent , Or between .
Drilled , Shipped , Refined , Shipped again and again , retail ?
If you could put a marker in a gal of crude when it comes out of the ground , it could go a 100 miles , or it could circle the globe .
Then it depends on time & price , then what fuel / oil .
Last week a commercial bio diesel processor told us , that he knows that 90% of commercially processed bio is shipped over seas .
When we get [ what part of this country ] crude shipped to a refinery , it may get made into any of the products , and shipped anywhere in the world the price is highest .
If your talking locally , then what ever refiner is closest [ in most cases ] , additives added when truck is ordered & loaded , a refinery in one area may supply most all of the brands in that area .
Then you go to the none retail , as an example , Alaska is U.S. , but BP runs a big part of the pumping [ drilled in past & wants future ] and sells anywhere the price is highest .
So theres BP = British Petroleum , not a US company [ at this time ] selling our oil anywhere .
These are all generalizations that change over time & dollar , there used to be many oil companies competeing , now there are a few monopolies , that some times have issues amongst them selfs .
We are not in the doggy dew we are in by accident .
Its managed bull , that makes mistakes .

Well then, let's look at it from the vantage point of us regular folk who are spending our hard earned money to put fuel in the tank.

In the U.S., there are the retailers mentioned above in my original post, are there others besides those listed?

There are many others , some are regional [ only in a few states ] .
But the single biggest answer to putting in your tank is in the 1st post , Any refiner in your area can sell fuel / oil to any retailer , no brands , except the additives when the tank truck is being filled .
I had a station in CA. some yrs ago , the local supplier said I could call it anything I wanted , or could make a deal with any brand , tank farm .
I am not trying to **** you off , it just still seems like an incomplete question ?

As I understand it, Citgo is owned in whole or part by Venezuella, AKA Hugo Chavez, who doesn't think much of the U.S.. I suppose at least some of their product would come from Venezuella, but it doesn't matter to me because I won't buy fuel there anyway due to who owns/part owns it.

absolutly right about that...

citgo=venezuella oil and is independtly owned (COULDNT PAY ME TO USE IT)
chevrontexacco=indpendently owned one corp. (american corp)
exxonmobile=independently owned one corp. (american corp.)
shell=indpendently owned one corp. (dutch corp)
BP=indpendently owned, supplies BP and ARCO (british corp)

this is how it is AT THE PUMP!!!!!!!!!! the OIL IS OIL and the above post is correct..oil can come from anywhere....but once refined it has a NAME TO IT AND THAT IS THAT.

the circle k's and other independent gas stations are as the gentlemean explained, they can contract with whom ever they want and can use any name they want....

but if it is a station as advertised...CHEVRON, EXXON, SHELL, CITGO, ARCO,BP

the way i listed it is how it is......

Your wrong , my station was in Sonoma co. , getting fuel from a non branded tank farm out of Sonoma , they were getting fuel from the Chevron [ its been since the 80s , so I am remembering the refinery ] refinery in Richmond , & my station was branded BP .

I've seen the Shell near by get there fuel from the tank farm and the tanker did not have Shells name on the side. I do know that Chevron get there fuel from Chevron Tankers and no one else. But I also recall many years ago when and Exxon I worked at got loads of fuel from Union 76, ARCO, Mobil or even Texaco Tankers.
