EIA oil import figures by country

That is one of those untruths that people are always pushing. Blame the Arabs for this, blame the Arabs for that.

The US imports most of it's crude from South America. If you want to get angry at someone, get angry at them.

And the oil companies who actually set the price that fuel sells for, plus the state/federal taxes on every gallon you purchase.

Dramatic spikes in fuel prices are typically caused by refinery or pipeline problems. Looks like there was a refinery problem in El Segundo:

O'ya, fuel is up through the roof in my part of the state as well, I saw $2.98 last night.

When I hear Iraqi kids pledging allegiance I'll agree Iraq is in our posession.

It's partially our own freakin' fault. Look around your house and count the number of items you own that were made in China. We buy their stuff, they build the stuff. To build the stuff, they need energy and they increase the demand for oil and contribute to a lower supply. Add that to the other countries that are developing manufacturing economies that are energy-dependent, the lack of refining facilities in the USA, the restrictions on exploration and production and various other factors. It leads to a big headache.

Don't get offended here, but "Blah, Blah, Blah"....

Another page on that same web site says that less than 46% of hour imports come from OPEC countries. So, those numbers you show are the raw numbers, not total percentage from different oil exporting nations.

First 5 months of 2005: 13,190 thousand barrels per day, of which 5,516 are from OPEC. That's just under 42% by my calculations. Of that 5,516....2,316 come from the Middle East, which is 41% of that 42%.

More simply said, 17.5% of our petrolum comes from the Middle East, this is information supplied by the Energy Information Administration, so....my reasoning still stands.

Heck, gas could go to $5 a gallon and it wouldn't effect the price of your McDonalds hamburger but raise diesel that much and you'll feel it.

We shoulda taken over them arab countries, thats what I say!
most of the big truckers are now owned and operated by corporations who pass the increased costs off to end users and write off the expenses from their taxes ( thank the present oil exeutive staffed federal govt. we elected for this one) . Independents that are left are in the minority and do have lobbists to take care of them.

what do they owe us for ? if they had invaded our country because we had weapons of mass destruction ( witch we actually DO have) i surely would'nt think we owed them anything !!

I thought independents used the same pricing and tax system as corporations. I may be missing something, but I don't see how the fuel price increase has changed the relation of corporation vs. independent in the business world. Any size business needs to set profit margins and make changes to stay within range.

Don't get me wrong, I'd love to see fuel prices drop.

$3.03 a gallon today, going up .10 cents a day.Diesel is now 10 cents more than premium

It's obvious they want to hurt us and our economy. The US provides alot of food for the world, I say, take their dinner plate away from them and see how they respond

We are taking a &%*$ing by these oil companies with their record profits.
But the Gov't turns a blind eye at the fleecing of America.........
I think you hit the nail on the head. It is big money time for the oil companies. They have there Texas buddy (Bush) in the command chair now and the prices just keep going up. The oil companies can tout claims of "really tough times" etc, etc. But they are just ripping off the common man. I can't believe the truckers haven't gone nuts over the diesel prices. Gasoline is one thing, but diesel powers the u.s. shipping infastructure and should have some regulated price to prevent fleecing.

Another guy said the Arabs owed us for all we have done....well just recently we and others have killed well over 100,000 Iraqis. So I don't think they owe us much. And we still haven't caught the S.O.B. responsible for 9/11.

I support our troops and their families. God Bless 'em. But Bush needs to go.
