So whats the excuse now for taking it to us at the pump lately
Seems the last 4-5 weeks or so prices have been going up steady for diesel only now were back to diesel being as much or more than premium. I guess we have to pay for the oil spill in the coast or the cost to switch over to summer blend. I hate 2 rant im just tired of the trucking industy always paying the price.

The oil companies have reasons for everything. In the winter, they have turn-a-rounds which means they shutdown units and repair or upgrade equipment, then they say they are not at peek output and raise the price to make people use less. Durning the summer, they raise prices to make us use less. They haven't built a refinery in the US in almost 40 years. It's easier to buy raw stock from another country and blend here. Then, by being at max rates in our refineries, they can tell government they can do no more. About 5 years ago, the oil companies were offered approval if they want to build a new plant, and get EPA to work with them on regs, but they said no, were ok. You keep a tight squeeze on the incoming, max rates for best performance and profits, price where they hurt but don't scream and all is well in the oil industries. Supply and demand. I worked for them for 30+ years. Also, grade 2 is easier and cheaper to make then 1. It's consider a sale-able slop. It's in the heating oil, jet fuel area, and now they found they can make money with a bigger demand than before. More diesel pickups and still many rigs on the road.

boB nailed it....Greed
Oil Industry/Greed (We'll tell them (us consumers) anything, who cares, they'll pay WHAT EVER we charge. Just ignore the excessive profits behind the curtain.)
Government/Greed (We'll tell them (citizens) anything, who cares, they'll comply to WHAT EVER we say. Sure there'll be a few rogues out there, but we can send them to the gulags. Oops, I mean compliance school.
Citizen/Greed (Not possible, there's nothing left)

I don't like it either. It really bites to see the farmers around here hurt because of the rising fuel cost. I'd like to show all you guys out there how I offset about one third of my fuel cost by using WVO.
I haven't looked but my guess is the stock market is causing the price increase.
People see the spill and know that it will/could cause a shortage so they buy oil stocks. This causes the prices to go up.
They didn't cause a spill on purpose!!!

I am sure that there are more complexities than just greed. Everyone, you and I included, are working to make as much as we can. Not one of us are willing to do what we do for nothing. But, I do believe that it is political and controllable. In Haiti, diesel is at least a dollar a gallon less than gasonline, probably because 95% of the vehicles are diesel. There are no refineries in Haiti. Distribution is marginal. Yet, it is cheaper.
I'll bet that the U.S. has more gasoline vehicles than any other country in the world. Diesel has not been fully accepted here in the U.S. Yes, there are many diesel vehicles, but there's more gassers. Don't think for 1 min. that oil is not controlled by big government! They control everything else and we let them! There's NO reason that diesel fuel should cost more than premium gasoline. It's just a immature game of price gouging, bottom line.
Just about the only true and informative statement here on this post,,,, and the answer is ,,,,, problem is government,,,, Canada = taxes to pay for the socialized gub-ment, which is where were headed fast, think it's high now wait till gub-ment gets through,,, can anybody say Europe pricing,,, these prices here nowdays will be cheap.
Trans ocean responded fast, BP is just leasing the rig, still responded faster than the gub-ment, that only took 9 days,,,,, and there is more oil leaking naturally out of the ground/ sea than is being leaked in the gulf every day.

The gub-ment has got you guys right where they want you, arguing about which oil company is the worst...... Haven't built a plant because of the EPA, these guys are idiots,
Keep it up,,, that'll fix it, for sure. There's a lot more to it, but I can't even begin to type it,,, you wouldn't / couldn't even fathom the overhead in one of these refineries.
Every time we try to do something inside our plant they change the rules,, oh well it's useless to argue, just look as a whole around the world at the pricing, why is gasoline so expensive in the socialized countries,,,, are even the marxist/ commie countries, it's cheap here compared to them.
We've used as a whole, world wide, 1 trillion barrels of oil since the begining, there is 2 1/2 trillion barrels still in the ground inside North America,,,, but we can't tap it, because of,,,,,, so you have to build, just one now, offshore platform for 500 million bucks, that's just one deep sea rig.
Good thing I'm not running it, I wouldn't sell Kalifornie one drop of oil
