quick question about #1 diesel

I know #1 diesel drops your fuel mileage because of the antigel additives but what effect does it have on power? Anyone know?

"The energy content of #1 diesel fuel is about 95 percent of that of #2 diesel fuel, resulting in reduced fuel economy and less horsepower."

it's only winterized (thinner oil) for cooler climates to keep it from gelling or freezing. i'd take a slight drop in mileage over the fuel gelling or freezing in the lines anytime.

We just had a cold snap here and were trying to get some machines running at work that had summer fuel in them. When you open the tank and it looks like jello it's pretty hard to get them running. Winter fuel is a must for about 5-6 months of the year up here.

Less BTUs per gal in#1 than #2. the #1 is a bit more refined so as to remove more of the parafin (wax) that is in diesel. The parafin is what gels in the cold.this makes the fuel less of a lubricant nessitating the use of a lube suppliment.

Fuel belled in the tank is a fun one. Dump in some 911 and try to warm the tank a bit if possible. Slap o. A new filter and comense to reding the system.

well good to know, it's not additives but the removal of parafin.

And much like I thought and expected it will drop power a little.

What's funny is my truck is a little more snappy and feels like it has a little more power because of the cold air.
