Auxiliary tanks a no no.

Here's a recent Mexican diesel update: last week a local Dodge guy w/inbed and plumbed tank filled up in Tecate,B.C. He was removed from the lineup by Mexican federales, fined $117.00 and had all of the diesel pumped out and confiscated. And the beat goes on... I'd be afraid anymore to go down there on a trip carrying an inbed tank empty or not. It just to seems to declare,"pull me over".

That's pretty much how it goes. There are a few more things but you are right.

My neighbors husband was killed and burned (hopefully after his death) about 1 1/2 months ago. He did not give in to the mafia style "Protection" they said he needed.

I just filled up today In Tecate. Not one problem accept it went up to 6.28 pesos/L. The attendant actually asked me if I really wanted to fill the tank all the way when the pump was reading 189 liters. When I asked him is that was ok he said I can fill up how ever much I want. Apparently there is no problem at Tecate right now.

Glad to hear things are working out ok there. Here in Tx I think you'd end up walking back as I think they continue to confiscate trucks.

Yup. they still won't fill aux tanks in Juarez. I'm not driving over there just to fill the stock tank. Hope they let up sometime soon.

My neighbor in Terlingua went to OJ recently, after the big floods. The peso is 12.8 to $1, so diesel there was about $2/gal.. He has an in bed tank, no problem. Of course, OJ is really BFE and politics seem a minor event.
On another note, I saw diesel at $3.19 up in Cleveland Tx, and I think $3.29 at some E. Houston sites.
I found a sratch & dent 91 gallon aluminum tank for $300, including shipping.
Will order hat at the end of the week.

$3.39 yesterday (IH-35 & O'connor rd) is the cheapest I've found...almost all other places are .30+ higher.

yes, I believe all the border towns are still strict on the "no aux fuel tank fill" and have been even more unfriendly when trying to leave Mexico. What happend to that free trade agreement?

Not much use for this thread now. The price of diesel in Mexico is almost the same as here. Not worth my time to go there now even if they would let me fill my big tank.
