LSD and ULSD

Hi. New to the forum. New Dodge diesel owner. I have a 5.9 liter in a 2007 truck. The manual does not say anything about using the Ultra low sulphur. Is it okay for the engine to run LSD?

Thanks

Yes.

Problem comes in when you try to run a 2007 (with the 6.7) on anything other than ULSD.

You are fine running whatever is at the pump in the way of Diesel.

Tell me, why does the 6.7 (and other newer engines) not like the old stuff?

Positive that all diesel on road engines manufactured after Jan 1st of this year don't like LSD.
Reason being fuel sulfur interferes with the regeneration strategies on the exhaust particulate filters that '07 and newer engines are required to be equipped with.

Any 6.7L will not like the old stuff. But the 2007 5.9L's can take it. This is the last year for our beloved 5.9L.

Stinks really, I don't have anything specific against the new motors, but I was just telling the wife yesterday it's going to be REAL slim pickings when I go to replace my current truck.

Probably like all those guys back in the mid 90's who were searching for the NON VP-44 trucks (wisely so).
