How 'could' we make/blend our own cetane boost?

I got to thinking not always a good thing that if we can make our own fuels with bio, WVO and WO, why not figure out a way to make our own cetane boost to get more out of whatever we are using?

I understand there is a diminishing return on cetane additives the higher the base fuel has. So if we are using 40-45 cetane pump diesel we can see an improvement. If you Google homemade cetane boost there is an article from the EPA saying cetane boost contributes to 1/3 of the NOX reductions on trucks.

Next question would be how do we figure out the cetane level of home brew bio?

What does burning WO do to the cetane level?

I am currently running 18 liters of WO in one half tank of fuel and have been for several thousand kilometers. I have not seen a reduction in peformance or mileage and other then a very small amount of smoke at idle, there is no increased black exhaust. This is on an 04 CP3 truck.

Here's the ingredients of PS, none of them are proprietary. With almost all additives 50-90% of the ingredients are just a carrier. PS makes a super concentrated formula that is used at the distribution level, one gallon treats 10,000. My bet is if you can get hold of it that it would be cheaper than acquiring the same chemicals on your own. It's also my bet that they won't sell it to you.

Ingredient # 01
Ingredient Name HYDROCARBONS (10-20%)
Proprietary NO
Percent 20
Ingredient # 02
Ingredient Name HYDROXY COMPOUNDS (50-80%)
Proprietary NO
Percent 80
Ingredient # 03
Ingredient Name AROMATICS (5-50%)
Proprietary NO
Percent 50

It's just the question which hydrocarbons, which hydroxy compounds and which aromatics they use. (and the percentage of each)For the hydrocarbons alone there is an almost infinite number.

To get back to the cetane boost question: Some interesting reading can be found here:

when i was in school, the teach said that cyclahexanol[sp?] nitride or nitrate was the main additive in all cetane boosters for increasing the cetane count of fuel

I read an article quite some time ago that stated something that answered a question I had. My question was how come I wasn't always seeing a mpg gain using cetane boosting additives?
The article said that most cetane boosters used a form of nitrous oxide that starts evaporating as soon as you add it to your tank and that within a few days it was gone.
Figured out this is why I was seeing better mpgs when using additive and driving straight though the tank, like on a road trip, but not seeing any mileage improvement when it took a week or more to burn a tank.

Good quality biodiesel makes an excellent cetane booster.
