How best to insulate the fuel tank?
How best to insulate the fuel tank?
I have my main tank dropped now and I'm prepping it for the veggie conversion. I'm going to slip a water coil into it, so I'd like to insulate it somehow.
Anybody know the best way to insulate the tank? Does anybody make any stick-on insulation? The only thing that I could think of was building a wooden box, putting the tank inside of it and shooting the box full of Great-Stuff.
Or is it just not worth the trouble?

No need to insulate the tank, just have your pick up in the middle of your coil. No need to heat the whole tank, just enuff to get the oil to flow. Use lots of heat else where like: fuel lines, heated filter, and a final heat exchanger befor the IP. Heating the whole tank is point less really, unless it was like 10 gallons.

Best way to insulate Fuel TANK?
I*M new to this VEGI OIL issue--but getting your Vegi Oil warm is No problem--as yrs ago Trucking in Winter WE truckers had problems w/ our Fuel Jelling UP! I bought a piece of Big Exhaust Pipe aprox 18 inches long & ran a copper coil around inside it--Flexable Copper tubbing & ran my main fuel line through the center--streight through--& welded & sordered every thing UP--Hooked the heating system to my Cooling System & It worked Great! I even covered my Home made Heater w/ a gal tin Can to keep the constant Blast of way below ZERO air from it as it under my truck Up under the Frame as High as I could get it! & my Jelling UP problem never appeared again--I dono? why? if You were going to Build your Own Vegi Tank? I*D just build a seperate Bottom Tank section & heat It as I descrbbed above! & yor Trucks Cooling system would keep your Vegi Fuel nice & WARM--so any Jelling UP problem would disapear? I would Think?? only negitive I can SEE? is if? your Truck sat out in the Cold--say over a week end! You may have to Start It & allow it to Run a While so the VEGI would get WARM! & Flow Good!--I dono? at what Temp VEGI oil starts to Jell? but it must bt a lot Lower than regular Diesel!--or if It will MIX? w/ Kero? to Raise the Jell Point?--theres an Oil Co about 30 miles from ME that Makes & Sells BIO fuel--but I don*t know?? any one Using it Yet?--as personally after reading about others making their Own! the Process seems to be not worth the Effort to ME? --Ole JIM--
