I bought diesel yesterday at 3.99 and gas was 3.49. Some locations are taking advantage of the situation.

I also bought 170 gallons of home heating oil from someone changing over to propane for $200 including 2 metal tanks.

So if the refineries come though Ike unharmed does that mean they'll give refunds to all the people they gouged?

edited by admin everyone of them!!!!
People like you create panic, which is what leads to the higher prices. If everyone is quiet about it and doesn't go hurrying up to top off their 3/4 full tank, there would be nothing to worry about.

Correct, ethical gas station owners will need to temporarily drop the price in order to make up the difference in how cheap their next load will be.

Panic purchasing always causes uneeded issues. I just drive the TDI when fuel gets that high, although it takes a little time time get used to only having 91hp.

Well, you are the messenger in this case.

In fact, I will ignore the temporary price increase, and it will go away. Also, did you notice oil was up to $140 and that has also gone away? And that is despite the fact that OPEC announced it would be cutting production.

I'm just glad I didn't contribute to the panic.

Well, THAT VERY THING is happening!

Gas futures are trading down again now that news is coming out that refineries didn't get much damage. Oil prices are DOWN this morning, Lehman Brothers is announcing chapter 11.

Scary times we live in, scary times........

Oil is trading below $96.00 a barrel as of right now, wonder how much that will make the gas prices go up to?

Considering it was $147.00 a barrel in July and gas was $4.00, shouldn't it be closer to $2.60 a gallon? Or am I using that "new" math again.....?

Someone explain to be how regular unleaded CAN'T be under $3.00 a gallon in the next month?

I will. Its called GREED

And to JD,

Lay off the OP. Fuel prices were already spiking before he made his comment. It made no nevermind wheather everyone rushed out to fill their tanks or not. They were raising them the very second the prediction was set for Texas, they saw little dollar signs in their eyes again. Now, had this thread been while they were still trying to figure out where it might hit, that'd be another story.
