Fuel Price Disclosure over the phone

A new gas station opened up on the other side of town from where I live. Up until recently they had the lowest priced diesel around.
I asked one day if I could call them to get their diesel price (I work 15 miles away and don't get off until 11PM, so I would head to the other side of town to fuel up if they were good on price). The lady said it'd be fine.
So, I have checked prices for about a week, and all of a sudden I call yesterday and she goes "I am unable to give that information over the phone"

Something about a law that she couldn't disclose beer or fuel prices over the phone..

Meanwhile the gas station close to my jobs has no problem giving a price over the phone..

What gives?

Hmmm.
They can't speak it over the phone, but they can display it on a 6 foot wide sign 20 feet in the air for all passer by's to see?

I think they may have just got tired of your calls.

I know right, public info on a HUGE sign.. I didn't call very often.. When I meant "for a week" I called like maybe 3 times over the course of the week, and usually spoke to different people. It seems to be just one employee having an issue with it.

I called a place one time about a month ago. Lady said they got diesel but couldnt tell me the price over the phone. Kinda weird if you ask me. Seems like they would want the business.

If they won't tell you the price over the phone, ask them if it's less than (insert price here).

Next time ask for their supervisor, if gives you the same, ask for his supervisor, ask him or her then complain about the way you were treated.

Just called again, because I knew I'd get another employee by now.
The girl goes "I'm not allowed to give that information, its against the law"

I said "SINCE WHEN" and she goes "my boss just told me an hour ago, and I cannot jeopordize my job to give that information out."

I even asked her if the price was BELOW $3.49 and she said I can't tell you.

Next time you get that line of "Deja-Moo", politely tell them that you'll have to start buying your fuel from their competitor XYZ station just down the street as they aren't ashamed to advertise their prices.

I recieved the same "it is against the law" speach in Boise. Though they where nice enough to say it was way less than the local stations.
