Biodiesel Spill

Trailer collapses, spilling biodiesel:

PORTLAND, Ore. - Crews had quite a mess on their hands at Southeast 182nd and Division after three drums of bio-diesel spilled onto the road.
The spill happened Tuesday when a trailer carrying three 55-gallon drums of the stuff collapsed and spilled its contents onto the road.
No one was hurt, but police said the driver would be cited.

might be an interesting story to follow.
if biodiesel was considered hazmat..that would be easy..

otherwise it just sounds like any other accident. what if it was water instead?

either way it would make a slippery mess to clean up..anyone got some soap?

Heck, at close to $3.00 a gallon, I'd have showed up with a sponge, a bucket, and a funnel.

The drive should receive a $180.00 ticket for having an unsecured load plus clean up cost.

Was it B100? Straight Biodiesel is 10 times less toxic than table salt, and biodegrades faster than sugar.

A mess for sure. But like NavyDood said, biodiesel is going to breakdown pretty fast. There will probably just be a stain on the road for a while.

I would add a filter to your recovery kit unless the sponge was a double duty soakerupperfilterer brand.

Don't get it on your boots though. I helped clean up a boo boo, and got it all over my $250 npfa fire boots and it softened up the stitches that hold the sole on.
