Question B100 in a 3rd gen

I am SERIOUSLY considering buying a BioPro 190 and i want to know what the problems are, if any with running B100 in a 3rd gen. Those that have been running it in 3rd gens please chime in and tell me how long you have been running it and if it has given you any problems. Also, Does all B100 gel up, or just the stuff made from certain oil? As you can tell from my sig, i have a 2003 with an aftermarket lift pump. Thanks guys

I have ran B20 before in my truck. It ran O.K. They say that more then that on our HPCR fuel systems the fuel will get stringy and cause problems.

Been running B100 for 15k with no problems so far. Fuel mileage will suffer a bit due to the higher cetane rating. I typically get approximately 5-10% less than dino fuel.

It depends on what feedstock your BD is made from whether it will polymerize (get stringy) in a common rail engine. Soy and lard feedstocks are the worst, canola and mustard the best.
Even with inferior feedstocks B75 seems to be no problem. Since you will be making it yourself you'll know whats going in and have no problem. It's when you play the guessing game buying BD from a service station that problems arise in a CRI engine. With refinery grade BD made from soy our '03 only made it 900 miles from brand new running on B100 till it started running crappy, injectors clogging.

msurf likely isn't having problems because most BD in Hawaii is made from palm oil, which is on the list of good feedstocks.

Researchers have been aware of this problem for years and will likely come up with a chemical solution before too long.

I've been making biodiesel for over 2 years now and run nothing but B100, except when its very cold out and mix some kerosene in to help lower the gel point. I've never had any problems at all running bio. I've run B100 in a 2001 Ford 7.3 Powerstroke, 2002 VW Jetta TDI, 2001 VW Golf TDI, 2007 Dodge Cummins 5.9, and a 2007 Chevrolet Duramax. None of them have had any problems at all. I also have a BioPro 190 and it is really great. I've had it for about 6 months and it really works great and makes great quality fuel. I've read on other biodiesel forums that it constantly passes ASTM quality tests. Biodiesel runs fantastic in no matter what I run it in. I'd say go for it. You will not be disappointed.

WALLAWALLA where are you at?

I have a BioPro 380. I used to make it the old fashioned way and would never go back. These machines make great fuel time after time. I bought mine from www.fusionbiodiesel.com

This is the key in your experience, you know what your BD is made from and have control over the finished product.
It's when the owner of CRI engine does the crapshoot of buying from the pump that polymerization problems occur.

i have run b20 before bought from a station in salinas, ca on our summer vacation last year. we were pulling our trailer. performance didn't seem any less, if anything it seemed to go up, but that is relying on the dyno in the seat which i'm having a hard time calibrating. i didn't check mileage, i did a total trip mileage. 12.5 mpg...
