Adding ATF to fuel?
They must have a back supply of 20-25 year old ATF... In the SF bay area, most school, and county mechanics, used ATF and water to clean the fuel system on gas engines 20-30 yrs ago. I new Two mechanics that recommended this to me back in the day. Them days ARE GONE...
So the solenoid need to day all the time in the transmission and ale the gears , because the ATF , allot people talking stories left and right but no profs at all O I HEAR THIS I HEAR THAT
There is a lot of dumb mechanics out there but not that much good one I trust good one with experience

go back to post #15 . if this man's word is not good enough than I guess no one's is. I have been rebuilding auto trannys for over 35 years and from what I know about ATF and diesel injectors I WOULD NOT USE IT EITHER

Believe what you want but if you understood what Trans Fluid was made of these days, you would NEVER run it in your engine. You come here to learn but you can't open your eyes long enough to gain from the assembled knowledge on this Forum.
If it will not burn cleanly in a pan you know it won't in the cylinder either.
Really bad stuff to put through a high pressure system and expect it to flow through small orifices like injector tips (that currently see tight tolerances that were UNHEARD of 25 yrs ago when people actually thought this was a good idea) while not expecting the gritty friction modifiers to damage these parts..
At least once a month I get a set of CR injectors in the shop that are nasty from the use of either ATF or used engine oil being poured in the tank. It makes a huge mess and I cant always get them back to serviceable.
Black, goopy, sticky stuff that eventually locks the injector up. I have seen pintles that simply will not come out of their companion nozzle no matter what we do.

I use ATF all the time (in the automatic transmission). The fuel tank, when it gets anything (mostly in the winter time), gets Power Service and nothing else. You can use ATF in the tank. The FEDS, the Mechanics, and the parts suppliers will love you for it.
