Filter Head???
Filter Head???
I'm building a fuel system, using the A-1000. I want to bypass the stock filter setup and get a new filter head/base with a big filter. Where can i find such a thing?
You need these:

That setup there cost me with filters ~$60, I got them at my local donaldson distributor, but a farm and fleet store will have them. Also can find them online lots of places.

I don't have the part number for the Fleetguard filter head I used. A search possibly could bring one up or the place you buy the filter at can find a filter head for it. The long filter, which I think is pictured is Fleetguard FS1000. I had problems with it coming too close for comfort with the dyno and the trailer. So I switched to the shorter version, FS1212. Baldwin and Donaldson both have replacement filters for these two and sell filter heads for them as well. It's simply a 1" 14tpi filter head.
The one I used uses -10an o-ring sealed fittings.

You can get a dual-filter primary/secondary filter set-up off any junked big truck, probably just for the asking, providing you ask nice.
The advantage of the ones off the big trucks is usually the replacement cartridges are easily available and good FleetGuard replacements cost much less than they do for many of the specialty units.
On my personal truck, I have had excellent success using a GoldenRod ahead of everything else; it strains all but the finest stuff, thus vastly prolonging the life of the rest of my army of filters.

Make sure you have at least 5/8" or -10an/jic supply to the a1000. Out of the a1000 you can run just about any size line you want. Some have used 3/8, some 5/8". I used 3/4" bottom fed to the a1000, 5/8" to the bypass regulator, 3/8" to the inlet of the VE. 1/2" out the bypass regulator to the tank.
I prefer to spend less and get more. But, if it comes to spending other people's money I can go top dollar
. If we were all honest I would wager that some of us really like our trucks but would "off the record" like a new one.
Bill, did you tap into the bottom of your plastic stock fuel tank? If so, from your photo's you are routing to the fuel pump (red contraption) then to filters and IP. May I ask what was the purpose of doing that if that is indeed what you did. I think I know the answer but I'll wait to hear yours.
