All a doable and cool project, but have you considered just putting the early cab on the '93? having a new drive shaft made is not real expensive. $250 for my last one a few months ago.

A few years back a guy took a Little Red Express, built a tube chassis for it, dropped in a 12 valve Cummins and went racin'.
Notice the License plate?..... it's STREET LEGAL.

It apparently changed hands after this picture was taken..........

well the cab of the 93 is in perfect shape and the cab of the 79 is striped and has no interior or head lights grill and mirrors and i thought i would save 200 bucks with not having to title and registar the 79 and just have the 93 also after i get a lift, exhaust, paint, tires rims, i got 4000 grand to play with do you have anyying cool ideas i should do with it, i was thinking about making a alinuminum diamond plate camper shell for it that had drop down sides but i just dont know, i could also just buy 4k worth of snap on right know i got a 50% studient discount and could quite a bit of tools, looking for your input and also im not ready to do any drag racing i need to get established somewhere before i want to get into that

You'd lose the shortbed stepside box trying to build the lil red out of the 93. What kind of shape is the rest of the 93 in?

I'd like to build a lil red with an IHC DT246 4 cylinder.

Ok, I finally grasp this. You could care less about the Little Red Express. you just want the later cab on the short 4x4 frame. The '93 frame is going to be much stronger. Just section it and use the step side bed. No VIN hassles. It's been done.
