Has anyone run into any issues with the law regarding changing a smog exempt (pre 1975) vehicle that says GAS on the title to a diesel engine? I wonder if CA DMV will change the title to Diesel on a pre smog vehicle. Would be nice to be 100% legit on my conversion. I could always just use the 1990 dash, vin an title inside the 1972 shell... but I want to keep the old dash! My plan is to keep the 1972 as original as possible, save for the black smoke. I'm going to name her the "white whale".
