Old Power Wagon Body?
Old Power Wagon Body?
I'd like to put an old power wagon body on my diesel 4x4. How hard would it be to do the conversion? I'm looking at the M37- style '46-60's body style.
Dieselpunked.

Its doable. Hood was lengthened on every conversion I've seen tho.
Might also concider the 60's power wagon like mine. I saw one for sale awhile back. It was a 70? on a 95 chassis. Looked pretty good in the pics. Lot more engine bay room for a ic then a early truck.

That would be pretty cool. see if you can keep the same cab and swap out the front fenders and the bed. I think the cabs are pretty much the same, and this way you wouldn't have such a wiring nightmare.
I am not sure if this will work tho.

I'm putting a M37 body onto a 90, 4x4, w/CTD.
First thing you do is locate the radiator to center the front fenders over the wheels. Then I had to move the engine back 8" to get the fan to clear the radiator. Not that much trouble. You Will need new driveshaft lenghts. I positioned the cab to clear the engine without cutting into the firewall and extended the cowl to be able to use a stock hood. Make new cab mounts. Then I cut 12" out of the frame to get the rear wheels to match the M37 rear fender location. (the 90 was a standard cab, 8' box. M37s are 6 1/2' box)
The biggest problem for some. The M37 body ends up being about 6" higher than a stock M37 because of the late model frames shape. Some people will like the height, some won't. If you're talking about a civilian pw then all bets are off. The main issue is that the Cummins is about 6" longer than the flathead six. You need to account for that somewhere.
Hope this helps
