Dodge v10 to 24v swap

I used the search function and didn't see where anyone had done exactly what I'm thinking.

I totaled my 1999 QCLB 4WD a couple months ago and I only had liability insurance on it at the time . Hit a tree head on. Engine and trans appear to be ok. The fan blade got hit by the radiator and cut into the timing case breather, but that's all the damage I can see.

My original idea was to buy another CTD and swap my mods over to the new truck. During this search I see really cheap v10 trucks and really, really cheap trucks with blown v10 engines.

I was thinking about getting one of the running v10 and taking my old engine and cleaning it up and repairing a few things on it and then swapping in my old engine and trans into the v10 truck. Now, I would think I would want another 1999 model. Is that correct?

If I were to buy a 1999 v10 I thought I would be able to simply swap the engine and trans and PCM and under hood wiring and gauge cluster and have a relatively easy swap. Obviously, intercooler and ac condenser, etc. would have to be bought.

Anyway, the reason I'm posting is to see if there are any gotcha's that I'm not considering. The v10 trucks I'm seeing are not only cheaper, but are usually much cleaner with lower miles on the body.

Thanks.

Swap your dash as well, and it would be difficult to tell anything had been done to it. Save the Trans from the V10 as a core trans, VB and Converter should be the only differences.

BTW, around here, the V10 trucks are almost as expensive as the Diesel ones, you are lucky.
