On my rc, which had a 91.5 donor with a 518 auto, like yours, I simply used the donor cross member, moved it back 1 hole in the frame, and used the plate with the tab toward the rear. I did torch out the holes in the plate a little toward the front of the truck. If I recal it was about 1/2 inch or less. This was the only pic I could find.

Used the cc at the shop today and made a mock up plate. Holes lined up well, so we cut one out of 5/16. I will bolt it in tomorrow. I bet someone could make some money if they made a kit for this conversion, a new diesel tank with straps, trans mounting plate, and a longer tail lighting a towing portion that clips into the ctd harness and you would truly have a bolt on conversion. Maybe even through in a drive line.

i know someone who used it and they are not happy with it ,its not thick at all its like spraying that cheep rubberized nonpaintable black undercoating ,,,goes the saying you get what you pay for !!! pro form sells a nice thick tar like matt under lay iv used it it works good on the flat areas you have to cut aroud all the corners and use a heat gun i dont think it was that pricey if i rember ?????

What is the consensus around the rear driveline? Do I shorten and add the larger u joints the original crew shaft? Is the original shaft going to be stout enough? Trooper, I think I am going out on a limb and going to try the Second Skins Audio. The have a large forum with a lot of people talking about their products and different uses.

Need to wake this thread up!

Not much happening with my crew. Had to sell mama's beloved new house, been living in the travel trailer for 6 months and finally bought a house that will be a never ending project! The missus probly won't be happy til the new place is up to snuff so it's going to be a long time til the crew is done. Makes me wanna cry! Could be the story line to a country song.

All that won't keep me from dreaming about it and making plans. So, I've got some questions that have probably been asked before, heck I may have even asked them. Will my club cab rear driveline work in the crew? Got any pics? How hard would it be to swap the firewall from a 93 into the 80 crew? I may need to obtain another truck to drive while a disassemble Bigred to build the crew.
