anybody running a 12 valave in a superduty
I'm pretty far along in my swap but as usual I get to a point and then start second guessing myself. I've got my 12 valve installed in the truck but I dont like the way the stock turbo sits so close to the a/c box. Autioworld says it's ok. It would seem to me that the plastic a/c box would melt within minutes.
So I bought a 3rd gen manifold and turbo. I've got it bolted on and everything clears real good. I guesss I just want the stock 12 valve look.
i know mo smoke has a 12 valve but he's got a 3rd gen style turbo. Anybody else running a stock 12 valve in a 99 and up super duty and not melted the a/c box?
thanks

I've got a 12v in a 2000 Ford Excursion. I built a heat shield around the turbo because of the clearance issues. Not this nice but same idea.

What kind of tranny are you using in your conversion?

Just a quick note to say that my swap is done. Well, 99% done. I'm still needing the 4" exhaust. The truck runs and drives nice and everything works. Yeah.
I want to pass along a GIANT THANK YOU to Tim Martineau AKA MO Smoke. Without him I dont think this would have been accomplished. Very smart guy and does he know the super duty wiring!! ThanksTim
Here are a few pics

To answer a few questions. I kept the 4R100 tranny and used a PCS tranny controller. A bit tricky to program correctly but it is a really nice piece. I did fix the KDP prior to engine install. As for fan/radiator clearance I think it's 1.5" to 2". Had to clearance the fan shroud on the drivers side as well. I cant say enough about Tim Martineau. His patience while helping me out and keeping me on task with this swap was amazing.
I discovered a lot of things while doing the swap that future swappers might want to know before beginning their swap. One big thing, if you think you've asked enough questions, you probably havent. Dont be afraid to ask me as I found out the hard way![Smilie](https://www.dieseltruckresource.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
thanks guys

The tach works perfect. I bought the kit from Destroked. There's another thing I learned. You should install the tach wheel and pick up prior to installing the fan shroud!!! If you arent running a shroud then no problem.
I got the a/c hoses made yesterday and picked up a new dryer this evening. I'm gonna try and install it and charge the a/c Friday.
I'm going to try and get some of the 2nd gen cummins stickers and cut off the Dodge ram 3500 part. I just like that sticker better and it's pretty close to the dimensions of the power joke sticker

I was going to do a 12v swap into a gas excursion myself then my wife found one already done.. well long story short I bought it. I'm redoing some of it, as I didn't like the electrical work etc.. I moved the starter relay and crusie control, addeded dual batteries and a grid heater setup..i have afew bugs to work out like the speedo quit working and i changed th evss etc..hopefully I can figure it out soon.. any pics would be great I'll try to post some up too

If it werent for the real back doors. I miss my Dodge very much!!! It feels so much more like a truck. I must say thought that my 01 F350 has no squeaks or rattles even having 20k miles more on the odometer. My 96 3500 was ridiculous. If you can, keep your Dodge and by a Ford to play with. You'll thank me later
I may have the conversion parts for sale. I prefer having a manual tranny and I have a line on one right now. Anyone looking for the swapparts I can save $300

Thats me I WANT four real doors. I do like my dodge better than the ford work trucks we have, far as the way they ride & drive. The fords at work even the 450's feel more "spongy" with a load than my 2500, Just mainly wanting something different.

Dukcaln, be patient. a truck with your name will pop up. I wish I had been a a little more patient. remember, those power jokes blow up all the time
I learned of a new 2008 with less then 15k miles that blew the motor going up north. I presume the owner had ford install another piece of junk in it
