Another Ford Swap
Hello all, new to forum, also new to swapping engine world, Sooo. I have a 1987 Ford F250 4X4 with a 6.9 diesel, manual transmission, great truck for an old man, unfortunately my grandson sunk it in an attempt to cross the river. Am looking at putting a 1990 Cummins in place of the 6.9. Would this be a relatively easy change? Any comments or help appreciated. Thanks, Patrick

Should be relatively easy, not sure who makes the best mounts these days, but AutoWorld used to.
Here is an option using your old trans, etc........

More Questions
As the receiver truck (1987 Ford 4X4 6.9 engine, standard transmission, 5spd) Will the aforementioned transmission work with this engine,( 1990 5.9 12V W/auto transmission flex plate and torque converter) I guess what I'm asking is will I have to use a different flywheel and clutch assembly? I don't think the motor mounts will be too much trouble, the one's from Auto World seem fine. Sorry about the dumb questions but I am just not that knowledgeable about this stuff. Thanks for any help or guidance. Patrick

Get a flywheel for a later 5spd or 6spd dodge then have it bored for a zf pilot bearing. A power stroke clutch and pplate will bolt to the dodge flywheel.
Or call a clutch maker like south bend and order a kit.
