Azzie, one of the biggest issues I've had with changing springs is the bolt and the sleeve in the spring bushings get rusted together. I have addressed this in a couple ways. 1) if you aren't planning to save the old springs get out the torch and start cutting. 2) I have sawzalled the bolts between the spring eye and the hanger then saved the springs for other projects and installed new bushings.

If you need to replace the rear shackle I found that Stengel Brothers in PA is the cheapest and fast shipping.

Good luck.

That's good info. I got my cab bushing kit from energy suspension today and have been watching it rain. Wanting to get my truck out but my get it buried in a mud hole to get it to gravel. Lol. I'll post some pics as I go. I'm excited after looking at your truck.

Obviously the 40 year old paint chips let me down, but I really don't care too much. I need to install the seat belts and calibrate the speedo then I can get it inspected. On top of the "too-do" list is: 1) replace the disaster of turbo with one that works, 2) install some door and window seals, 3) sound deadening, sound deadening, sound deadening, 4) build a hitch, 5) add some traction bars. Then drive the snot out of it.

Thanks man. Yes I am going to try to make it for at least one day. I may even put it on the show field if I feel it is enough of an oddity.

We will look for you in the show field.

Hammer Down! 70+ miles on a shake down run. No insulation or floor covering required a stop for ear plugs.

Thanks guys!!!! Its definitely a good feeling to drive this thing! So far everything works as it should. I have a couple injectors that were seeping around the injector nut. I tightened them down and hopefully a few heat cycles will seal things up. Its been getting a lot of attention, I don't know why, its just another old truck.....
