I don't pull, but have attended quite a few over the summer. Usually i would see most guys with BFG's All Terrain(90%), and the others had Trexus(8%). I only heard complaints that the trexus had too much grip sometimes(depending on the track) which would cause other parts to break in drive line.
Maybe some pullers will kick in some more input.

I think the BFG AT is about right. You can go with a little bit larger tire (295 or possibly 305) and still have good balance of bite and spinning. Or a lot of guys around here go with 265 mud terrains. It gives bite but is small enough to give and spin a bit as well.

If you don't have to drive on them everyday and just for sled pulling then yeah go with the STS, but if you have to drive on them everyday go with some sort of all terrain as they won't wear as fast. I'mpulling with 305/70/17 Mud Dawgs M/T and am worried They might have to much tread to pull but it's all I have.

i've been told that the sts is alot of bite and would probably break stuff... last year i ran 35-12.5-17 cooper st.. they seemed to work ok but that was my everyday tire and they are gonna need replaced come spring when i start drivin it again. i was lookin for some 16x10 wheels to mount pullin tires on.. i was thinkin of goin with a wide tire like a 14.5 or so or should i stay under a 12.5.. any input on that guys...

A lot of people around here run BFG All Terrain's. A buddy of mine runs firestone steeltex on his dually. Last year I ran 3 Goodyear Wrangler MTR and a Firestone Destination M/T at about 50% tread. They could've been a lil better. (The burnouts didn't help the life any) I'm in the same boat. I have to find a new set this year also.

Mud Terrains are what most of the serious pullers and superstock trucks around here run. As mentioned it will depend on how much traction you need which depends alot on your power level and clutch setup.
