OD off, Selector in drive. When convertor locks in third gear, around 46-48 mph give her the skinny pedal. Don't mash it gently press to floor so it doesn't downshift.

I don't know anything about the tow/haul, but you want to dyno with the overdrive on and converter locked. Thanks Steve B.

ok, two different responses. thanks for the help, both seem like they would work.

i can understand the 3rd gear pull w/ od off because it will stay in 3rd and wont upshift correct?

and i have heard that alot of dyno operaters make pulls in od.

so what is the correct way to do it? btw, this will be done on a mustang dyno w/ load applied.

Dyno in Overdrive with the Torque Converter Locked. No matter what type of Dyno I've dynoed on this is the way its done. Thanks Steve B.

sounds good to me. im not very familiar w/ auto trannys, at ehat speen or rpm in od does the tc lock up? i have an 06 48re, Thanks.

soon i will be shooting for some low 12 high 11 sec ets of my own. drag racing has always been in my blood, just not in the form of diesel trucks i am learning as i go.

does anyone offer any type of piggyback or standalone tunning hardware/software to make changes in the ecm w/ a laptop while on the dyno or at the track to create your own fuel mapping?

I disagree with Steve B.
Dynojets should be dynoed in OD.
Loaded Dynos, like the Mustang, work best in third with OD locked out. You want as close as possible to 1:1 gearing for a loaded dyno.

Your operator should know this and advise you accordingly.

Dynojet/inertia=OD (5th gear in a 5 speed, 6 gear in a 6 speed)
Mustang/Load type=Direct (ie Tow-haul, OD off, 5th gear in a 6 speed, 4th gear in a 5 speed)

how about a dynojet with a load cell? 5th in a 6spd or 6th?

Load is load...(however inquire with the operator to be sure).
5th gear in a 6 speed.

Is this a new Dynojet model.... or do you refer to the Drum Brake. if it's just the brake...stay with top gear!

not a dyno expert by any means, but I don't think it's a drum brake. It's an eddy-current load cell.
