So I went to the truck/tractor pulls at the county fair the other night and i noticed that the smoke from the big tractors didn't really smell like diesel exhaust. Is this because they inject so much water or are they using something else for fuel?

Its' the water. You can see the smoke turn white as they're spooling at the line and hit the water switch.

It's the cetane additive. Makes it smell different. Best way I could describe it is kind of a sweet smell.
