Traction Bars Question

I have the front of my traction bars shackled and the rear made so they will pivot I was wondering if this was the right way to do it, My brother said I should make the rear of my bars solid. Can anybody clear this up for me.

Would be a lot better if you could supply pics. Solid is better for pulling but will not ride as good.

I have pics posted on a different post, the post is called "Pics of my traction bars and stops". I'm not saying my brother was wrong but i want to make sure before I modify them for the 4th time.

if the front is mounted to a shackle then yes the rear needs to be solid or they won't do anything. now if the front is mounted to the frame solidly (w/o a shackle)then you need a pivot at both ends.

the shackle allows the axle to move fore-and-aft as the suspension cycles but won't let the axle rotate due to the solid mount @ the axle.

the other style has a fixed pivot point @ the frame and another at the axle and works like a 4-link that uses the spring as the upper link.

by solidly connected to the axle while having a shackle on the frame you mean no heim or joint at the axle just strait welded? Just wondering

I wanted to know if the bars should be monuted to the axle with no joint or pivot, until the bar connects to the shackle up front.

Well today I took the pivot point out of the rear of the bars and made them solid.
