Depending on the place some will let you run the truck. If your going to a dyno day like Fall Brawl up in Dillsburg, PA chances are they will be doing the runs to speed things up abit.

If you run on a dynojet (interia type dyno) do the run in overdrive and make sure the torque converter is locked for obvious reasons.

If its a mustang dyno (or a similar load type dyno) then you can run drive or overdrive, same thing applies make sure the converter locks before you put the coal to it.

hairy:

JD730 is giving you some good advice. I would also add that you need to make sure the speed of the truck is over the point where it will NOT "Kickdown" the tranny into 3rd (Passing gear) as they roll into the throttle! On my 1996 Dodge 12 valve that speed is around 65-70 MPH, however yours may be slightly different. You can go out on the highway and test it to see where yours will no longer "kickdown" on you.

Hope this helps you some. Good luck.

The way we control the tranny is with a converter lock up switch and a switch to lock it in overdrive. we get it in overdrive locked up and drop the RPM to 1500 then we stomp the pedal and hit the sample button on the dyno. good luck

I thought that when you dynoed you want to do it in 1to1. I know thats what we did when we dynoed my dad's mustang and my buddy's car.
