Things I should know

All right fellas I think I've found my next truck it's a 97 reg cab long bed w/ a five speed 225k on the ticker. What are some things I need to ask or look for on these trucks and what do you think would be a fair price. I went and looked at it. It's what you'd expect for 225k, but I'm new to the 12v. Any help would be great thank you!

look at the front timing case to see if it was replaced. the killer dowel pin needs to be tabed right away if it already was not. (just got done fixing mine after it fell out and not alot of fun). get it into fifth gear and listen for a rattle, could mean the nut is getting ready to back off. that is not to bad of a fix. check to see how much oil blow by is coming out of the crank case breather tube, it is located on the right side of the motor above the front diff. I would recomend that truck if you want to learn to work on it lots of fun and lots of possibilites. couldnt be happier with mine. as far for price its hard to tell i bought mine completly stock about a year and a half ago for 9900 it had 160k on it. few dents though.
