If you guys are wanting serious trucks that are trailered and putting out major power to pull with the tractors to keep the crowd interested, then there should be no reason why we can't run hainging weights. heck they need to weigh 8000lbs to be competive right..If the weights are secure what does it matter. I know my truck like others need weight on the front...
And I know I've said this before, but the website is REALLY up this time. www.tttpa.com We could use some pictures of some the trucks at pulls if you guys have some you'd like to email me, I'll try to get them on the site.
IMO, the DHRA rulebook isn't the best place to start - especially for pulling.
Personally, I find the rules discriminatory to the point of exclusion, mildly obtuse and at odds with the goal of promoting the world of diesel performance for the masses.
I recognize the attempt to manage safety issues and sensible class breaks, but I think there's a better way.
Like many things in the hi-perf turbodiesel market, the DHRA seems to have brought a lot of gasser-think over to our dark side; some of it is necessary, but some of it is just
Don't we want everyone to appreciate & enjoy the world of #2?
For every Bombed truck on here, there's 9 more out there that won't ever even get a taste of Power Service - and those people will probably get a bigger kick out of dragging the sled 150' than we do with a full-pull... after all, it cost them a lot less time & money to get there!
The folks in the stands are in amazement of the big dogs grunting down the track, but they also love watching the hillbillys tearing up their trash in the dirt - it's a lot easier to identify with and try for themselves the next time.
If we want healthy growth, the masses must be appealed to...
Serious pullers want to win the prize $$$, but Joe SixPack will stand in line to PAY for a hook.
Let's get Work Stock and Street Diesel firmly grounded in reality!
Well, that my 2 cents!

Thats just it...I dont think the TTTPA wants all those stock trucks out there tearing up breaking or only pulling 150 feet. In the TTTPA thread, David stated how he wanted those only serious about pulling and making lots of power to particapte. I'm guessing they are doing this so that the pulls dont go until 2 or 3 in the morning with 40 stock diesel trucks pulling like the peach and melon festival.
I also agree that to attract new people to the sport, there needs to be a work stock class so that the average guy can come and have fun and pull. If diesel trucks are going to grow, somebody needs to step up and buy a sled so that they can have their own diesel truck pulls and split away from the mod tractors. Thats what the TTTPA did with the antique tractors...
With the right promotion and the number of diesel vehicles in this state, pulling could become quite large.

Not many more than that. I want to say there are 4 to 6 that are signed up. As new as this is, the directors will probably have alot to do with how this class shapes up for the '08 season. If you are a member, you will, at the very least have the chance to speak in an open floor discussion and make your point. It seems like there are alot of things you guys are wanting to change... I would recommend getting a group of you together and agreeing on something, come up with a plan, talk with the directors and present something at the meeting. That way, you guys have a big part in setting up what you want.
Guys David is trying to get a class going where we can pull.. but not everyone is going to fit in... (Our truck doesn't even fit.) The TTTPA is trying to offer something to promoters that can offer a good show.. but it can't run all night... but He is creating a TTTPA class...
There is no reason a promoter can have a class or classes after (Or before, like the Antiques.) the TTTPA is pulling. Nope, your not going to be running for TTTPA points or money...
Or a special event.. (Like Buck put together.) or run the night before something.. not that there is more sleds starting to get operational... there is room to rent sled, and setup these events... A lot of work.....

Bryan, I'm workin on somethin for us diesel boys, a friend of our is going to let us set up a track at his paint-ball park, the kicker is he already has concession stand, restrooms, showers and will have water and power for the rv'ers. It's a nice place, and it's right on I35w south of Alavarado about a mile. And he will let people play paint-ball for like $15 and supply the gear. We are going to try to get somethin worked out by Feb...what do ya think???
