T&S Outlaw Drag Race CANCELLED!!

I received a call from DTR Member Mike D stating that the "T&S Outlaw Drag Race" was CANCELLED by Beech Bend Drag Strip track Officials this morning due to unknown persons damaging the Drag Race Campgrounds sometime last night! Apparently, unknown persons did "donuts" on many of the grassy areas in those campgrounds throwing mud and debris everywhere and damaging other areas also! Pretty sorry that the actions of a few have spoiled it for alot of drag racers that traveled a LONG distance to that event!

I hope they prosecute the offenders!!

This is terrible. Lets hope it does not ruin the rest of the event. I have noticed a lack of self control from SOME people since I went to Muncie in 2005. Every year it just gets worse from what I read although I have not been to a large event since 2005.

I took my two oldest boys with me and decided it would be the last time I would do that. Most of the time it was family friendly though. Dont get me wrong I can act like a butthead with the best of them, but not with my youngsters around.

IMO, its past time for rules of conduct for those who dont have self control. Its too bad.

Don:

This is the third diesel event in the last eight months that has had something like this happen due to the actions of a few "idiots" that have no self-control or respect for the rights and hopes of others! Last August at the "Scheid Diesel Extravaganza" where suspects were doing burnouts, blowing black smoke on everyone in Terre Haute, then the incident at the Steele Alabama
Diesel Drag Race Event about two months ago, where they "kicked out" all of the diesel drag racers due to three "oil downs" and now this incident at the "T&S Event."

According to some of my buddies who are at the "T&S Event", they are still planning on running the sled pulling event tonight, however, it is at another track/area and not at Beech Bend where the drag racing event is. There were alot of diesel drag racers that traveled a LONG way to attend the "T&S Event".

IMHO,....they need to permanently ban participants that damage property at these events from EVER coming to another one! I agree with you that is getting worse and as you know I have been going to these things since about 1998. As you said, it is only a small amount of idiots involved, but those small numbers are going to ruin it for the larger group of race teams and diesel drag race enthusiasts that love to attend these events, including me!

On this event, I really feel sorry for Dennis and Shelia Perry at "T&S Performance" who work very hard to put the event on!

From what I hear it was a red flatbed dodge with stacks. I don't know anything more other than I have time to kill before the pulls.

It won't be long before we won't be allowed to race anywhere. I'm thinking about selling out now! My second event this year, fuel for travel, meals, hotel rooms, preparation costs, and not one pass down the track. Dan Scheid told me it made him sick to his stomach. There were more racers here than I have ever seen. I bet there were 20 pro street trucks and tons of new rigs. I don't know if there is any way to control these idiots who can't control there destructive ways, heck they think it's cool.

Thumbs down

Am I missing something?...

A large event like this was completely canceled by the actions of a few jokers doing some donuts?

How bad was the damage?

Any pictures of what happened?

Seems like something could have been done to prevent this juvenile behavior from ruining the hard work of so many...

I actually see it from their perspective....they are "asking" us to police our own....Someone needs a 2x4 to the head from the sounds of all this. I agree I am sick to my stomach that people cannot control their impulses......

It truly is a darn shame that some people cannot control their idiotic antics while attending an event. That includes the before and after out on the streets that people who live and work in these areas also have to use. Seems like maybe the event planners might want to actually encourage the local law enforcement (maybe even share in the cost) to start writing tickets at the first chirped tire, larger than normal puff of smoke, breaking of speed limits, etc. Drinking in public should be prosecuted immediately. I hate to say it, but we obviously are not able to police ourselves. I've heard people gripe that the police in Indy were harsh. But if you aren't doin anything wrong, you have nothing to worry about. I say if people can't handle that, they need to stay their butts home!

I couldnt agree more, it will make me re think these events, I didnt know it was such a young crowd, I came ready to rock in roll in both Super Street and Pro Street.... Oh well. 14.5 hours there and 12.5 hours back home, pulling tandem trailers, we tried?

I heard that who ever did the donuts also drove up the track after they did the donuts, getting mud all over the track! Anyway i also talked to someone from TS thursday afternoon asking them what they would do if it rained and they said that no matter what, the pulling track was covered and couldnt get wet, It wasnt covered at all!!! It started an hour and a half late, it took them forever to get it worked out and once they did no one could stand anywhere good enought to see the trucks! IMHO I really liked the Extravaganza in Indiana a lot better. Seems like those guys up there have their stuff together a little more, and I agree with you guys on here, their are alot of stupid people down here making us all look bad......

We parked near the baseball field fence at the pulls tonight, walking back to the truck there was trash and beer cans all over the place down beside us...we picked as many up as we could and put em in a 50gallon trash bag. If people keep acting like this we wont be able to have any good events

I got to give DTR a thumbs up for the monitoring they do on this site. I have been reading on other forums about the drag event being cancelled and instead of the topic being kept on track, it just turns into a big yelling matching with people bashing other people and nothing ever good comes out of the thread. It seems to be just a big ego war on the other sites and frankly it gets old. I am just curious as who the individuals are responsible and if they are going to face any concequences. My self and a couple of friends were going to make the trip down, i am sure glad we didnt now. Dont know if i dare make a long trip to any big events like this anymore because of unknown actions of other people that can ruin it for everyone.
Good work DTR!!!
