raced a duramax today

It was on the street. I was in my 73 bmw with a 4 cylinder. I think he figured that he would blow right by my little 4 banger. He was trying to race ahead of me so he could get infront to make a right turn. Normally I don't care. When I saw that there was a mile of room behind me and that it was a d-max I hit the gas. I'm sure he was probably surprised that he couldn't pass me. He had to drop in behind me. It felt nice.

Nice kill. My dad has a '76 2002. Fun little cars to drive, I love them.

Sounds more like he was being the smarter driver and not trying to do something stupid like racing on the street to me......

thats cool I have an 2005 BMW M3 its all stock, but 155 mph is no problem I have ran it that fast lots of times.

the m3 feels solid at that speed the car runs high 13 easy but on the road its a warrior especially
from a 100 + mph roll

I love my diesel truck but seriously when I get some guy in a dura max roll next to me on the freeway at 80 and wants to play at 100mph + speeds I take the m3 0-105 my diesel truck of course !

the 6 spd smg transmission works great with paddle shifters in sport mode

I have not had any trouble in the M3 , with any diesel truck at triple digit speed 120 mph +
especially if there are any corners involved LOL....

when i feel like going faster then 175 mph I break out the trusty 2004 Chuck Graves tuned yamaha R1
0-60 mph 2.3 sec 1/4 mile 9.76 99 mph 1st gear & its a 6 speed .
top speed ? you dont know if you have to ask LOL..........

I'd love to drive an M3, desertchecker. Your vehicles are the oposite of mine. Your car is stock and your trucked is bombed out.

I know it's not smart to race on the street, but as far as the Dmax being the smarter driver, smart drivers que up in line for exits and turns instead of feeling that they are so special that they deserve to go to the front of the line and then cut people off. There was nobody else behind me so it's not like he couldn't get in. It was all fun.....

People make dumb decisions every day......but seriously though, was it going to completely ruin your day if he got in front of you? I ride with people all the time that get bent out of shape when a drive gets into a gap ahead of them large or small and they try to speed up to close it and prevent them from getting in.......for what? It's how accidents happen, and it's things like that which have turned this entire country into poor drivers with no courtesy on the road whatsoever. I'm not flaming you, I'm just making a valid point. Can't deny that the people (most at least) in this country are mostly me-first when it comes to driving.

Your point is well taken. Most of what you say in your post is true. I had a momentary loss in judgement. Believe me, the thrill was short lived. I felt silly right after and knew I should have just ignored it. In all honesty, I normally do. I'll be good for another 10 years now. Feel free to flame away.

I've not tracked my car. I think stock HP is somewhere around 115 with maybe 85 to the rear wheels. With my mods I'm guessing I might have 125 HP/ 100RWHP. It's never been dyno'd and again, it's a guess.

Yeah, I didn't want to anger you but I just wanted to put into perspective the mindset that everyone seems stuck in these days. I'm surprised that insurance rates are not any higher than they already are. Boy every morning I see the same stuff. I've done my best to stay accident free for the last few years and have been successful up until the one on Dec 15th, which was not my fault although the other company seems to want to fight it. Guy turned in front of me when the right of way was mine. So now thanks to someone that just couldn't be patient I have a totaled truck and and what looks to be a debacle with insurance companies.

Is that beamer pretty light? I like BMW's, would love an M3 or M5!

03qclb5spd....

Sorry to hear about your accident. Was that on your dodge? That sucks. I think it's part of the strategy of the insurance companies to frustate people to the point of giving up. They know that most people have only so much time before they just throw in the towel.

2200 to 2400 lbs sounds about right on weight.

Yep, on my 03 CTD. Yeah, it's unfortunate that they are such cowards and lack integrity.....screwing over good people just to make some extra $ in their already thick pockets.
