tranny?

what all of you use for trannys behind your pullers? im looking at building a budget puller, i posted up a question a while ago and i think i found the donner for the tractor. any ideas, i have a tranny out of a 97 that is an auto and the truck is a 96 with a 5 speed that is going in to the 97. thanks

Well if your on a Budget throw that Auto away fix that 5 speed up and put a DD clutch in that puppy

still really new to the diesel world what is a DD clutch? will it be to expensive to make the auto work?

Yes it will on the auto. DD is a dual disk got to www.southbend.com

A south bend dual disc clutch is NOT a slipper clutch...i repeat it is not a slipper clutch...trust me i know

sure there is and we have two already that have gas engines in them both were built under 1500 bucks, there both in tractors though. i have been pulling modified tracotrs for about 4 years and have really got in to diesels and was wanting to make a smoker, its going ot be exabition anyway well for the most part

so how does it work then? it has to slip to engage when you are hooked to 40-60,000 lbs of dead weight.
and im not saying slip it 100 foot that is 1/3 of the track. that is driver error.
