Hey guys! A friend of mine was asking today if there was going to be a pull in Galax this year since the ntpa was not going to be up there this year. Do any of you guys in that area know if the local fire dept. or other organization is going to sponsor a pull around the fourth of July? Would like information as soon as possible to make plans to go. Thanks.

Hey! Are either of ya'll from Galax or right near it? Man! It is CRAZY to see this little town's name come up ANYWHERE ANYTIME! I am originally from Grayson County (Independence)...nuts. Wish I could get back out that way to see my small town country folks holdin it down! Be sure to take a bunch of pics now!

 

Me and Matthew05 are both from Galax! I guess the Navy took you all the way across the US to Ca. Big difference then Grayson Co.

 

Man, you gotta be kiddin me! That's awesome! When did they start doin truck pulls out there? All the more reason to come back home...I'm gonna have to get my wife in gear with getting some time off from work!

Yeah, I took orders out here to San Diego a little over three years ago and for a year and 9 months before that, I was in Pensacola, FL...course, when I was over there, I would go home for a weekend every month or two. You know Matt, Perry, Chris, William and ALL those other Hawks boys? Matt just bought himself an '06...you should find him and get him rollin on his truck. I have spoken with him a couple times about it, but I don't think that he's really GETTING how bad this diesel addiction is yet

I do know some of the Hawks boys. I just worked on Chris's truck for him last friday. This is actually the first pull, we are putting on with the help of the fire dept. So were hoping to have a good turn out. We have been going to some local pulls around the area and down in North Carolina so it's getting to be pretty big around here. Hope you do get to come home soon. It's very nice to meet you!! Oh, and by the way my name is Wes Barker.

 

I'm Derek McKay...you graduate in '99 or '98 (I graduated in '00)? Your name sounds familiar...I noticed that Matthew's last name is Rector...he related to Micheal? Yeah, I hope that I get to come out there soon, too...I am shooting for October of this year...keepin my fingers crossed. But then after that, I have to keep my fingers crossed that the little lady will let me DRIVE out there, rather than fly, or else I won't have my vehicle I could always pull the "baby, what if it snows?" card!

Anybody know if there is a flier, or what the rules are for this event. Might want to go and watch or pull for the first time. Not sure what I have going that weekend yet.

 

I'm hoping to post the rules by at least the end of this week. We are working out just a few more things but come on out if you can!

I was really good friends with the Lawrence family (Peter, Sarah, etc)...If I'm not mistaken, you used to have an LX Mustang with the HO 5.0 in it, right? Sold it to Timmy? Man, I might be ALL jacked up...it's been a LONG time since I have seen a LOT of folks back that way, and if I am, I apologize...just trying to get a face with the name...

 

I am sure I would recognize you, your name doesnt ring a bell, I remember the Lawrences very well. Yep, that mustang was one of many I've had.

Yall need to get the pull setup so that it runs the same time as the blue grass convention! Some of us have to truck on in. I talked to a couple of guys from Oregon that actually knew about Galax because of the bluegrass conv. Seems it is one of the biggest events making it a well known town.
I used to run though galax and Floyd atleast once a month going between Charleston SC and Roanoke. You really need to transfer to Norfolk. The only thing you will miss from San D is the traffic.

 

Have you ever tried to even drive near Galax during the fiddlers convention?? (and flea market) .... If they had them at the same time I dont know where all our big Dodge's would fit! But it would be a good idea.

 

Sure have. Went to one about 10 years ago. Get there early if ya want to park. I had a blast and want to go again one of these days.
I forgot to ask but does anyone know the cover cover charge to just show up to the pull? I need to see how far it is from me and I may come up. I am going to the one in Elizabeth City NC this weekend.
