Lowering front end for pulling

Does anyone have any ideas/info on lowering the front end to improve pulling. I've got a 98 with snow/tow package and it sits up too high in the front. I know that I can block the rear and add traction bars but was wondering if some shorter/softer front springs would give it more leverage as well. I am willing to swap these out at the end of the year so I can pick up my snow plow. Most pulls I do local don't allow weights outside of the box. Thanks.

Paul

Hang 1k lbs off the front end and swith to regular load springs up front. You could also strap the springs down.

Try a set of 1/2 ton springs? They are about the same size but much softer.

I havent heared of lowering the front for pulling, I Think you need to raise the rear and not worry about the front. To light of springs up front could cause the front to hop while pulling. I have skyjacker leveling springs on the front and had the rear arched 3" with an extra leaf and the addition of 3/4" ubolts and Fabritech ladder bars , we cant hang weights on the front and I block the rear solid or bump stops with 1" travel which ever I can get away with. my truck has pulled at 500HP and probably up to 600 with nitrous and it never hops even with 9-34/16 TSL swampers.

I think you will spend your time better with the rear suspension, good luck

Good info. With my stock setup I'm at about maximum hitch height already so thought about trying to lower the front as I don't have much if any room to work with the rear end.

Can you explain exactly how you block the rear or what you do to allow just an inch or two of travel?

Raising the rear of the TRUCK helps the geometry of the truck strategically for pulling.
You can always lower your hitch after you have raised the rear of the truck, thats where an adjustable hitch becomes handy.

You should have some bump stops that bolt in from the factory. Remove the rubber stops and fabricate some tube steel and plate to bolt in place of the rubber bump stops.
