I installed it on the front brakes.....not so much for the burnout aspect....but the fronts off more braking force, so the truck will hold more power back then the rears.

I'm green to pulls and drags. Do you do these 4x4 launches with a stock transfer case? I can't imagine doing that with mine.

Wow, I'm surprised stock with hold up to all that abuse. I may go try some 4x4 hole shots today

Kinda wanted to bring this back from the dead to get some more discussion started.

I went to the open track night at HRP last night for the first time ever. Drag racing was alot of fun, but I want to do some better runs. Lots of driver error last night. Anyways, I only did 4 runs, then the slave cylinder on my clutch gave out, but in the 4 runs, I started in 3rd every time. I was gonna try a run in second but didn't get to it. I never put it into 4x4 though. Seems kinda risky.

I guess my big question is, with the Con FE on my truck, can I use third gear launches and not worry about buggin up my clutch too bad? I mean lets say I did 6 races a year and 6 runs at each race (total 35/year) will the Con FE be alright? I really would like to start in 2nd to save it, but getting from 2 to 3 takes forever.

Also, one last thing, I don't have a tranny temp gauge right now, but last night, I crawled under the truck to take a look at the clutch slave, and I noticed that tranny was HOT, made me kinda concerned, should I pony up the money and get a tranny gauge?

Thanks!

3rd gear launch works great with tires that aren't too big - what size are you running?

p.s. my calculator predicted that you'll run 36 times.

Anyone have any new ideas and or comments for launching a manual transmission? I'm thinking with a 4x4 launch at my low power level, no need to air down the tires. Last time I went to the track, it was also my first time, I just aired the rears down to 38 psi and launched in 2nd gear about 2500 rpm. My best 60' was 2.396 seconds. I now have a new FE clutch that doesn't slip so we'll see if I can improve.

I'm not going to lie, i've done it in my truck with 40in Ground Hawgs on it, After leaving a party or something, see 20-30 people or so standing by the road ready to watch, its kinda hard not to!! 3rd gear, rev about 3k, slip clutch, let out, skinny peddel to the wood, and hold on for dear life!!! Not sure how many of those it will take before i break something, But hey all in good fun!! And believe it or not, it seems, a big mud tire like that is alot easier to spin over than a street tire that has more surface contact to the road!! One of these nights i hope to get a vid, i'll post if i do!!-Chris

I can launch in 3rd with no wheel spin in 2wd, but I don't think I am pushing the power the way some of you are. 2nd I can break all four rear tires loose and scare the poop out of my passenger lol
