Fastest Cummins?

Anyone have any links to hot rod Cummins trucks other than Banks. Is there a class for biodiesel only or recycled oil only?

Edge is working on a truck. I just saw/read about in the new DieselPower magazine. Here you go Scott. Check this out.

wonder if it's a common rail motor??? or a VP pumped 24-V, or heck maybe even a P-pumped 24-v, then again they might have been wise enough to stick with the tried & true 12-V , but seriously, I'd love to know which base platform they started with?? good looking truck, hope it does well for them, Dusty

even tho the edge truck is shrouded in secrecy still...the latest issue of diesel power magazine (junk...ford lovers) they have an article on the edge truck. its approx. 1,100hp and tho it uses a 3rd gen body the editor swore he saw a 12v motor when sneaking a peek behind the fiberglass hood, but he wasn't exactly sure. edge has not released any info yet tho. i dont care what motor is in it, i just wanna see it run their goal of 6.50

seems impressive to run 9.22 and shut down at the 1/8th mile mark

Seems the dragster diesel may need to add some more #2 to keep up with the edge boys this summer. As long as it is a cummins I am happy, lets see the duracrap/powerchoke boys run a 6.90, or for that matter a 7,8,9 has anyone else broke the 10 sec mark surely there are a couple d-maxes out there running 9's barely holding together

I also laughed when they were kind of embarassed about egt at 1450, man that is a country drive in this truck, which reminds me I should put a couple more bucks in the twins jar fund

With the Edge truck being so heavy, they have their work cut out for them.

Once again the articles in the rags are not up to speed with reality, but like the ol saying for editors goes "dont let the truth get in the way of a good article!"

“Most people said that the sheer weight and mass of a diesel engine—about 1100 pounds—would keep the truck from getting anywhere near Pro Stock times. We accepted this challenge.”
Looks like thats why they did it.

Unfortunately, I don't have any links for you on other Dodge CTD drag trucks.
Everyone that knows me here, knows I am no fan of Banks. I saw the Banks LSR Truck run against Scott Bentz's Diesel Rail back in 2003 at the "ATS Truckfest" @ Bandimere Speedway, Denver, Colorado and he only was able to run a 12.3 quarter mile! I don't dispute or begrudge him for his Land Speed record with that truck, but drag racing is different as the other members have already pointed out! The other members mentioned the Edge "Wolverine" Drag Truck. At it's debut it was only able to run an 11.03 @ 91 MPH! That is one heck of a LONG WAY from their "target" E.T.of 6.50!

In your post you specifically mentioned "Cummins trucks", which I assume is the "stock appearing" Dodge Pickups with the Cummins Engine. The guys I respect are the ones that run the DHRA Circuit through the spring, summer and early fall! At the Atlanta Event back in September of this year, Phillip Stuckey took first place in his 94' Dodge CTD running 10.83 @ 125 MPH and
Kevin Meredith was second running 10.97 @ 123 MPH! Jeff Garmon also did well running in the 10's and so did Darren Morrison who had a 10.3 run but had engine problems!! The "TS Performance" Dodge Trucks also run very well. All of these are "basic" Dodge Trucks like ours, NOT tubular chassis built trucks like the Edge "Wolverine."

As Don M. so eloquently put it; "Once again the articles in the rags are not up to speed with reality, but like the ol' saying for editors goes "don't let the truth get in the way of a good article!" I agree 100% with Don!

Thanks for pointing that out Porterfield, my eye sight seems to be lacking. Darren Morrison currently holds the ET record at 10.50 (backed up with a quicker 10.32) and the fastest is Jeff Prince with the current MPH record of 127.09 mph. These are full size, plated and legal pickups-both Cummins too!

McBride:

Thanks for the input! IMO, all of the "Pro-Street" guys did GREAT this past year and the participants in your events don't just talk, they show the fans and the drag racing world that they really can put the numbers down! I know that this upcoming year the numbers with the full size Dodge CTD Trucks will only get better!

I only hope that the "tubular chassis" trucks like the Edge "Wolverine" and possibly Greg Hogue's (COMP 461) come out. So far, I have seen neither of these trucks on the dragstrip but HAVE seen alot of "talk" on the diesel websites about how fast they are. Time will tell.................................

I have never seen Jeff Prince's truck run in person but I have on video and it looks fast. Darren M.'s truck is really fast I have never seen anything like that. And next season I bet it will be even faster.
I have a lot of respect for those guys. And even some non DHRA guyz like Fletcher and Hoss.(Sorry Eric)

How fast is your red truck in 1/4 John? Did you ever get it sold? I wish I had the extra $$$$$ laying around.

Little off topic but I stumbled upon a advertsment by hypermax that they ran a ford ranger with the navistar engine at the salt flats to 218 mph, only 4 mph slower than the banks truck with the 12 valve and also once the Banks d-max sidwinder lets loose I am sure he will break that record, or why would he build it?. Is anybody else doing landspeed records being we may lose the fastest diesel record soon.

banks

on banks' sit they say the twin turbod duramax will put down 700 hp and over 1000 tq, thats a respectable # and im sure the engine will run very smooth since most banks stuff does, but id rather have a rough running high idling 1000 + hp cummins than a 700 hp smooth runing duramax, but thats jsut me, anymore i think its all in the gears, somebody buy haisleys truck and throw a body kit and some higher gears in it and well see about that record, nevermind id rather see it pull that sled and put a 700 hp duramax against it
