Fastest Cummins?
Travis:
Thanks for also mentioning those other drag trucks! Your right, they are fast too! I still have my 96'. Best time was 12.4, but it should do better than that. Still "tuning".....................................

I saw that ad by Hypermax too of that Ford. I would like to see them beat Banks record! It's funny,.......you don't ever see any of Banks' "custom" trucks set up for drag racing. I would like to see him field a truck against some of the DHRA Drag Trucks; Dodge, Ford and Chevy! That twin turbo GMC he is building is supposed to go on the endurance road racing circuit according to the article in the latest issue of "Diesel Power."

As far as banks goes I think he has found an area that the "big" boys don't care to much (speed on the salt flats) about so he can brag and pound his chest saying he is the best
That's William Fletcher's Single Cab Long Bed 4 Link, Full Frame, all steel, FULL Size Ram
He holds the NHRDA Pro Street Record
It's also the fastest street legal truck I've seen
Now that pass may have been on ET Drag tires and not ET Streets but I'm not sure.
Bill does drive his truck to work every once in a while.
All in all its a toy. But, a street legal toy none the less.

Wes

Yeah your right, my old "daily driver" 02' 24 valve doesn't run too bad either!
I can't wait to try it with the Scheid Lightning II Injectors in the spring. My guess is I can get below my previous 12.9 @ 105 MPH.

I agree with you 100% on Banks and his LSR Truck! Heck, the guy still thinks he "invented" the high performance field for the diesels! One thing that I have noticed over the past few years in the diesel drag racing and diesel sled pulling is this: "How many of those high performance diesel drag trucks or sled pullers do you see running Banks stuff?" ANSWER: NONE!!!!!!
As I said, I would like to see him field a full size Dodge Diesel Pickup (non tubular chassis) to field against the drivers we have all already mentioned!!!
You are also right in noting that he likes to "brag and pound his chest saying he is the best" many times at the "expense of his competitors" like TST, Edge and Bullydog, who, IMO, know alot more about diesel performance than Banks does, regardless of what Gale himself thinks. On the contrary, you DO SEE those companies (TST, Edge and Bullydog) with their high performance products on the drag and sled pulling trucks!
After what I saw with him and his "race team" at the 2003 "ATS Truckfest" in Denver, Colorado I can tell you, I am not impressed!
Anyway,......good observation "greenworks!"
And again;...just my .02 cents!!

I dont care for and have never been impressed with Banks parts or R&D either. Just a bunch of overpriced/overrated "stuff" we`ll say. My original question came about after a conversation with a guy who claims to have the fastest "worlds most powerful" Cummins 5.9 running on cooking oil. Producing some 800+ HP and racing the deserts. Soon to be retired and put on display in the Petersens museum. He mentioned what he would do to my truck if it was his ,and went on to explain easy and cheap HP stuff. I told him yes Im aware of all the ways to build HP, and how little things like the starwheel and AFC effect things. Funny thing was he had no clue as to what I was talkin about when I mentioned the AFC. Dosent surprise me as he just babbled on like a used car salesman. I would imagine the truck dosent even exsist.

sounds like we are gonna have a few duramaxes running in dragsters this year jason
now just think what 800hp 1600tq runnin threw a allison is gonna make in the 1/4 when were are allready down to 11 seconds with a 7000lb truck.....
might be something that you will envey

Seems the dragster diesel may need to add some more #2 to keep up with the edge boys this summer. As long as it is a cummins I am happy, lets see the duracrap/powerchoke boys run a 6.90, or for that matter a 7,8,9 has anyone else broke the 10 sec mark surely there are a couple d-maxes out there running 9's barely holding together
I also laughed when they were kind of embarassed about egt at 1450, man that is a country drive in this truck, which reminds me I should put a couple more bucks in the twins jar fund

? Because I don't see a whole lot different between a built brand a or brand b they all shift fast and hold, and 800 hp is 800hp with the same weight comes down to the drivers, I guess once the duramax takes the top spot in the pulling, I may eat some crow, but I can't see this in the near future until some major internal working on the duramax is done, it will just not hold up, like the cummins. You guys may get the speed record this year with my hero gale banks
but I think this is where it will end, I do believe the duramax is going to give the drag racers a real run just based on a v8 design ....but NO time soon in the pulling events.
Remember diesels are made to pull not race
Lastly we are in the 10's LAST year do you think these guys are happy with this? I am sure someone will poke around the single digit mark this year maybe even break it, there are alot of fast trucks out there now.
Jason
Still I would like to see Bill's truck on a scale and then run the 10.13. 5500, or 6000 lbs would be just out of site. But for me, I gotta see it on the scale. I don't think Bill's makeing the HP to run that time at 5500 lbs.
