Your horsepower didn't necessarily go down, it just moved your cruising speed out of the power band. If you were to speed up 10MPH or so you'd probably be fine, EGT's allowing.
Larger tires just bring your numerical gear ratio down, lowering your RPM's at cruising speed.
My 35" tires with 4.10 gears bring my actual ratio near a 3.54 final ratio, as RPM's are at 2000RPM at 70MPH.
Oh yes, and 4.10s are nice!

Gotcha. At 65 mph I was pushing 18.5-19.0 mpg with 235's. After installing 285's, mpg went down to 14.5-15.0. I don't remember the tach, but those tires sure killed my economy. O-well. Ecomony is going to heck after tonights install of bombs! I hope my wife doesn't get too annoyed with all the dounts I'm going to burn around the barn!!!!

the blocks i've heard of guys building them of 2x4 steel tubing, but you have to allow for at least 2" of suspension travel in most street legal classes. thats why i think some people use the timbren mount because it will limit suspension travel, but not completely eliminate it.
im still looking for someone that wants to sell some ladder/traction bars. i dont have the material or knowledge to build them myself, id rather buy a kit and install it at this point, but none of the big name commercially available kits look sturdy to me

i think i can weld up a set like casper's pretty easy. just a few feet of tubing, a welder, some heim joints, and a coupla bolts and im good-to-go.
get blown, id weld ya up a set and ship them to you, but you'll still have to have someone weld them to the axle and frame.

hmmmm i could do that...a friend of my dads is gonna help me weld up a sled pulling hitch so maybe he could help me install some bars too. ive been looking at some of the kits out there, and even tho many of them arent made for a 94-02 dodge, i think making some mounting brackets is alot easier then completely fabbing the bars
